Hey everybody, here's a drawing I did of my friend Ian's character. He does a rockin' comic book with four brothers who must defend the Island of Malta from evil. Or someting like that... I dunno for sure, I've taken a lot of shots to the head recently....

Well, I guess it's been awhile since I last posted anything on the ol' blog. The main reason is because I've been doing alot of traditional work that I seem to be too lazy to scan. The other reason is that I've been doing more freelance that I can't post up here yet.

This one's the polar opposite of the David Cross illo, hence the speed at which I find myself posting again. I highly recommend the Between Two Ferns series with Mr. G. As if you didn't know.

Here's a fresh caricature of one my favorite comedians: one Mr. David Cross. Hopefully his sense of sarcastic vitriol comes through in this pic. I'll be trying to do more of these types of paintings in the future. It seems to be great way to get a handle on light sources and bounce lights and whatnot. Comedy!

I recently started trying out a new style of illustration. I've really enjoyed it so far and I'm looking forward to trying it out on a larger scale. It's mostly based on airbrushing and coloured pencils ala the amazing Drew Struzan, with a little bit o' brushwork thrown in for good measure.
This is the second painting I've done in this style and it's based on a photo of my grandfather in his uniform taken during WW2. He was in Italy during the battle of Ortona, where Canada played a pivotal role during the war. I'm pretty happy with the way this piece turned out and I like to think he would be too.
